During this crazy year we’ve all seen changes to our lives, both at home and in our business environments. Unfortunately there are some things that can no longer be done out of concern for safety.
The good news:
Video production is not one of those things.
The beauty of audio and video equipment is that the right microphones and lenses can capture good sound and images from a safe “socially distant” distance, and the same can be said for the right audio equipment. A shotgun microphone can be placed on a boom pole and held from a good distance away by a competent boom operator.
Another audio alternative is providing a lavalier microphone that has been sanitized, and placed where the on-screen talent can put it on without coming in to contact with anyone.
On-screen talent also has the option of remaining silent. Action shots accompanied by a voice-over are a great option during these COVID times.
Masks have become such a common part of our every day lives that we’re growing accustomed to seeing them on screen as well, so that is another option to consider, depending on the type of video you want to shoot. Additionally, wearing a mask on camera could signal to customers that you care about their well-being.
The point is, you don’t have to stop working on creative ways to deliver your message to your customers, and the precautions needed to do it safely aren’t very difficult to deal with.
